The Wellness Ecosystem

HomeThe DistrictThe Wellness Ecosystem

Wellness is the lifestyle that combines regular physical exercise, a healthy diet and a positive mental approach – the key components for living better and healthier. Wellness is an individual choice and can be made in every place and at every stage of life.

The Wellness Valley is the first real example of a Wellness Ecosystem, a social and cultural model that focuses on people and their health and creates the conditions that allow them to make healthy lifestyle choices. The achievement of this goal involves all sectors of society.

The Wellness Valley model is based on a multi-stakeholder approach and connects more than 250 public and private stakeholders from Romagna creating a single platform of consistent values, goals and actions to improve people’s health and quality of life, thus boosting well-being and the attractiveness of the territory.

Wellness Foundation guides and coordinates the work of the stakeholders through dedicated Workshops that deal with the themes of “Health and Prevention”, “Sustainable Economic Development” and “Promotion of the Territory”.

The first existing Wellness Community in the world: a living lab for the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the prevention of NCDs

The spreading of Wellness culture across a region and within a community is able to create a virtuous circle that brings significant benefits to individuals, in terms of better health and quality of life; to companies, that can achieve higher level of competitiveness thanks to a more creative and productive workforce; to governments and the community, that can reduce healthcare costs through prevention.

The Wellness Valley District demonstrates how it is possible to realize a new model of sustainable development that can help achieve many of the SDGs contained in the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

Wellness is a global megatrend, and the Wellness Valley has been adopted by international organizations such as the World Economic Forum in Davos as a case study and an international benchmark of a sustainable system for the promotion of wellness and health.
